tobias Episode 29 Part 1 Marice TobiasMarice Tobias is a world respected voiceover consultant.  She is more than a coach and has a reputation matched by almost none other.  You have heard her name mentioned in many other episodes by the biggest names in the industry.  I personally found this episode to be valuable as she speaks truth and doesn’t pull any punches while doing so.  If you have interest in expanding your voiceover career or are at the top and need some rejuvenation I think you will enjoy what she has to say.

    Having attended a weekend workshop last year with Marice I can say she is like no other voiceover coach I worked with or have met. There is something very special about Marice’s insight into both performance and industry. I can’t wait for the opportuity to work with Marice again.

    I enjoyed this very much Ryan! I am a recovered radio gal (who’s been doing voiceover full time now for 20+ years. So there IS life after radio. :)

    I’ve been studying with Marice Tobias for the last two years and just returned from her latest coaching event in Los Angeles last weekend.

    There are always a lot of take-aways from each weekend workshop and private conversations I’ve invested in with her. So affirming, and productive. All I can say is, I’ve come a long way during my career, and there’s a bright light shining on the road ahead.

    Liked the sports analogies, and the points about having a large comfortable workspace with windows (works for me). VO is all about personality, (internally and externally) so I agree with the need to be refreshed, inspired, and in a good mental space (getting the noise out of your head). “The more patient you are with your progress, the quicker you will move”. Well conducted interview, too. Thanks!

    Greetings, Ryan! Thanks for conducting and posting this most enjoyable interview. I was particularly interested in your and Marice’s comments about studio design and configuration. One reason that I refer clients to the picture of my stunning soundproof studio is because it assures them that I am recording in a professional environment as opposed to using a cheap headset microphone plugged into my computer.

    Marice made a valid point that getting out of the booth to adjust your computer settings can disrupt the mental flow and concentration needed for a great performance. For this reason, I use a Frontier Design Tranzport while in the booth. This nifty device lets me control my Pro Tools session running on the computer in the outer room without leaving the booth.
